Pitch Pairs​

  • Fastball – 4 seam vertical paired with run varied based on arm slot
  • Sinker – 2 seam / pronated 2 seemer / 1 seam / no seam
  • Fastball / Splitter
  • Fastball / Change-Up
  • Fastball / 12-6 Curve
  • Sinker Slider
  • Fastball Cutter Slider

Approach

  • Strike One – Hot Hot
    • Fastball (middle in 4,5 for RHB or 5,6 for LHB)
    • Change (middle vertical 2,5,8 or middle horizontal 4,5,6 zones)
  • Strike Two – Strike Zone Hunting
    • 1st base side of plate (6,9 zones)
    • 3rd base side of plate (4,7 zones)
    • Hit a flyball with infield in and runner on third base (1,2,3 zones)
    • Hit a groundball with infield back and runner on third base (7,8,9 zones)
  • Strike Three – Pitch Pair and Perimeter Defense
    • Any of the pitch pair combos stretching the zone
  • Effective Velocity Strategy
    • PLUS ZONE for RHB (1,2,4 zones)
    • PLUS ZONE for LHB (2,3,6 zones)
    • MINUS ZONE for RHB (6,8,9 zones)

  • Get Me Over breaking ball is used
    • first pitch
    • 3-2 pitch
    • hitters count when expecting a fastball
  • Strike Me Out breaking ball is used
    • when the pitcher is ahead in the count and can waste a pitch
