WHY PITCH RECOGNITION?
Because Pitch Recognition is not like swing mechanics. It’s not well understood and hard to properly train. However, pitch recognition is integral to hitting and creates competitive advantages.
First, it’s not VISION and it’s not VIRTUAL REALITY. Pitch recognition is “pattern recognition” training a hitter’s brain to read subtle cues about the pitcher & pitch.
It starts with the pitcher’s windup, release and post-release mechanics. It ends when the pitch travels a little over half way to the plate. During this time the hitter is reading pitch trajectory and speed.
Pitch Recognition allows a hitter to predict WHERE and WHEN a ball will be in order to hit it…One of the hardest things to do in the world.
